AIT

What does AIT do in the CASSATA project?

AIT is Austria’s largest Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) and a major international player in many areas of research. In the CASSATA project, our main focus is on the Optronics Technical Area (TA1), which includes efforts in WP3, WP4 and WP5. In particular, we are the work package leader for WP5. We are also involved in the Collaborative Sensors Studies & Design (WP15, WP16). Our focus is on the development of our edge-based multi-sensor platform, the integration of different optical sensors and the use of AI for object detection.

What does AIT aim to achieve by participating in the CASSATA project?

As an RTO, we expect to develop and improve our edge-based multi-sensor platform. Our goal is to improve our AI-based object detection algorithms and integrate them into our edge-based system to be independent of large server solutions. By collaborating with partners, we aim to refine our technology, increase our know-how and expand our expertise.

What specific areas does AIT focus on in the CASSATA project to improve covert sensing and operational effectiveness amidst rapid changes in European defense?

In the CASSATA project, we will focus on our edge-based multi-sensor platform. Our goal is to make the platform modular and easy to deploy. With this modular concept and edge-based AI object detection algorithms, we plan to improve situational awareness and ensure that the system is independent of large server infrastructures.
