What does OP11 do in the CASSATA project?
Optics11 is the world leader in fiber optic sensing technology for ultra-sensitive early warning systems. Operating from the Netherlands, a country renowned for high-tech industry and maritime innovation, Optics11 works passionately to help protect our sea-lanes, critical offshore infrastructure, and energy supply against disruption. In CASSATA project, Optics11 is involved in TA2 (WP6, WP7, WP8 ) and contributing to study, design and develop fiberoptic static seabed monitoring solution for detection and localization of surface or underwater targets.
What does OP11 aim to achieve by participating in the CASSATA project?
We expect to further extend our knowledge and capabilities, while at the same time building new partnerships within the European Defence Industry.
What specific areas does OP11 focus on in the CASSATA project to improve covert sensing and operational effectiveness amidst rapid changes in European defense?
As part of Cover sensing technologies, OP11 is focusing on providing novel fiber optic based approach to hydrophone technology. Thanks to CASSATA project we (OP11) will strengthen the position of EU based hydrophone industry. (novelty/competitiveness) while maintaining the internal EU-based supply chain. – OP11 will develop a new portfolio of static underwater acoustic surveillance systems based on an evolution of the optic fibre hydrophones. This will provide the foundation for systems that will answer the need that arises from current events concerning underwater infrastructure. Both civilian and military application can be served by this innovation.
